“I was the manager of Google Norway from the beginning of 2005 until I resigned in December 2019. The customers of Google need advice on primarily two things. One is search engine marketing, SEM (paid advertising), which Google or another agency can help them with. The second part is search engine optimization, SEO, which is far more complicated. Google´s employees do not engage in SEO consulting since it would be unfortunate to advise customers on how to achieve the best possible organic placement on Google when the main purpose is to assist paying advertisers. There can easily be challenging habilitation problems if one were to do this. Therefore, also the Google employees had little SEO insight. Customers then rely on good external experts within SEO. I met Roar Eriksen already in 2005 and had a close collaboration with him during all the years I worked at Google. In many ways, he was my most important external partner and advisor. I have referred dozens of customers to him who were all very pleased with the services he provided. I continue to refer clients to Roar and believe that he is the foremost expert in SEO in Norway.
